How to make a post (in 7 easy steps).

The people have spoken! (Well, actually just one, but it was an elder so it counts as The People many times over :) The "How To Comment" post served a purpose! I'm so excited. Now the latest request was for a "How To" post instructing readers on how they can join The Liberator Blog and make their own posts. So here we go! (We may re-post this periodically as well as the "How To Comment" post to ensure new visitors are aware of this info).

STEP 1:
First, because Google just bought Blogger (the company whose free program we use to publish The Liberator Blog) you need a Google Account now to make posts using the Blogger program, and thus to make posts on The Liberator Blog. (You still do NOT however, need a Blogger/Google account to leave COMMENTS on a post). So your first step will be to click here to sign up for one of those Google Accounts now if you don't have one already. (If you do have a Google account or Gmail account -- they are the same thing -- then skip to step 2). Here's what that sign up screen should look like:

STEP 2:
Now that you have your Google account, you need to let us know what your username is so that we can send you an invite to be a poster on The Liberator Blog. Go ahead and email your username [along with a short sentence or two telling us a little about yourself] to blog@liberatormagazine.com

STEP 3:
Check your email because you should get an invitation from us that looks like this one below. Follow the link provided in the email.

STEP 4:
You will be taken to a page where you should now sign in with your Google account username and password.

STEP 5:
You then need to fill in the information on the next page you see, including choosing your display name. (Your display name is the name that will be displayed when you make posts and leave comments. You can use a nickname if you want. I use my first name "Brian").

STEP 6:
You'll then see a "Dashboard" screen where you have the option to create a new post. Creating a new post from here is rather simple. Click on "New Post" (duh, right? well sorry if I'm insulting anyone's intelligence, I just want to be thorough).

STEP 7:
Then you'll see a screen with a text editor. Choose a title for your post. Copy and paste an article you want to share or type your message. Type in some labels for your post (labels are basically keywords that describe your post, please use lowercase letters for labels!) and then click on the orange "Publish Post" button. That's it! You've made your first post!
