

Walter Kitundu is an interdisciplinary artist who was raised in Dar es Salaam and is now living in the Bay Area. Among other things, he creates musical instruments that are influenced conceptually and functionally by nature and the elements. He has also created a family of phonoharps, a completely new instrument based off of the turntable.

wow...im loving the idea or rain-activated turn-tables...fantasticness.
those instruments on his site are bananas. using elements -- water, fire -- to power instruments... and making the intentional point that doing so may slow down the records or whatever, but how that's cool too since the speed will be produced according to a natural rhythm... dang
