I'm loving this idea from Humble Arts Foundation, a New York-based fine art photography organization that curates exhibitions (online and in galleries) and offers a biannual grant to emerging photographers.
In order to "ensure the sustainability of its programming, while continuing to provide exposure opportunities to emerging fine art photographers" they are selling postcards from some of the photographs in their library/collective.
Funding for artists has always been difficult to come by and with the tanking economy, it's definitely not going to get any easier. I'm thinking we're going to start seeing more artists and art foundations take matters into their own hands and come up with creative, sustainable ways to bring in the revenue they need to create and share artwork.
